Hiroshima's morning of the Day At 7:09 a.m. the radio announced that four B-29s were in the skies northwest of Hiroshima, but they soon left. At 7:31 a.m. it was reported "no enemy planes are in slight in the military jurisdiction of Chugoku district." One of those enemy planes, scouting the weather of Hiroshima City, reported that the weather being clear, it was possible to proceed with the bombing. Of course the people of the city had no means of knowing this. When the "all-clear" was announced, the citizens, freed from the strain which had lasted from the previous night, gave a sign of relief, since air raids were almost always carried out at night. Shortly after 8:00 a.m., an order to issue an air-raid warning came in and the bell rang. Masanobu Furuta, the announcer on duty, immediately rushed into the office. Then hurrying down the hallway, he looked over the news manuscript which read, "8:13 a.m. Chugoku District Army Announcement: Three large enemy planes proceeding westward over Saijo area. Strict precautions should be taken." As soon as he got into the studio, he puched the buzzer. It was 8:15 a.m. He began to read over the air, "Chugoku District Army Announce-ment: Three large planes proceeding over Saijo area .........", there was a t remendous noise. He felt the reinforced concrete building tilt, and the body seemed to float in the air. The attack hit the people of Hiroshima ....... CSI HIROSHIMA Live Project 1995 (6)
